• Connection Requests: Messages sent through our coffee chat feature.
• Device Identifiers: We create an anonymous user ID stored in your browser to associate you with your pin.

We automatically collect:

• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, and interactions with the map.
• Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This includes approximate location, browser type, and device information.

• Display your pin on the map for other users to discover
• Facilitate connections between users through coffee chat requests
• Send notifications about connection requests and messages
• Improve and optimize our service
• Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience

4. Information Sharing

Your pin information (name, location, category, stage, tagline, social links) is publicly visible to all Map Mates users. This is the core functionality of our service.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service Providers: Hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), and analytics (Google) providers who help us operate the service.
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Data Retention

Your pin and associated data are retained until you delete them. You can delete your pin at any time using the delete button in the app. Connection request history may be retained for up to 90 days after deletion for abuse prevention.

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data associated with your pin in the app.
• Edit: Update your pin information at any time.
• Delete: Remove your pin and associated data.
• Withdraw Consent: Stop using the service at any time.
